A $7,500 electric vehicle tax credit provided by the Inflation Reduction Act will only be available for EVs with batteries containing at least 40% materials produced in the U.S. or a free trade agreement country in 2023. This domestic battery materials requirement climbs by 10% per year until 2027, at which point it will remain steady at 80%.
