Alaska Resource Education Jan. 13 announced that Ella Ede, a lifelong Alaskan with more than 25 years of experience in Alaska resource industries, has been appointed as the organization's executive director.

Ede brings experience in mining as well as oil and gas, most recently as stakeholder engagement manager for Statoil Alaska.

"Ella's experience, industry knowledge and demonstrated commitment to ARE's mission make her an outstanding choice to lead the organization," said ARE Board President Kate Blair. "This is an exciting time for ARE. We have creative, dedicated, well qualified staff, and a board that is aligned and ready to grow the organization. We're fortunate that Ella shares our vision and commitment."

Ede is a long-time supporter of ARE, both as a volunteer and board member.

"After volunteering in the classroom and at various events over the past 15 years, I am excited and honored to have this opportunity to work directly for ARE," said Ede. "The ARE mission has long been a passion of mine. I'm looking forward to the challenge and opportunity to lead the organization and grow this program which is so critical to helping Alaska's youth better understand the critical role of natural resources in our state."

Ede lives in Anchorage with her husband and four children. She enjoys travel, hiking, skiing, camping, and the outdoor beauty of Alaska.

Beki Kelly will continue to serve as the education program manager for ARE.
