Cantex Mine Development crews build a pad for 2018 drilling at the Massive Sulphide zone on the North Rackla project in the Yukon. One hole drilled here last year cut A 3.54 meters averaging 35.36 percent zinc, 14.01 percent lead, 3.07 percent manganese and 277.8 g/t silver.

Cantex Mine Development Corp. April 15 announced the start of a 2019 exploration program at North Rackla that is slated to include sampling, geophysics and 18,000 meters of drilling at this high-grade zinc-silver project in the Yukon.

Following a successful drill program in 2018, Cantex raised C$15 million this spring to fund its 2019 exploration that will focus primarily on Massive Sulphide, a zone where last year's drilling encountered 3.2 meters of 40.2 percent zinc and 207.5 grams per metric ton silver.

Massive Sulphide zone, which includes the Discovery and Extension subzones, has been traced for nearly 2,500 meters across the North Rackla property.

Last year's drilling encountered exceptionally high-grade mineralization at Extension:

• Hole YKDD18-012 cut 9.19 meters averaging 18.04 percent zinc, 8.09 percent lead, 3.67 percent manganese and 150.6 g/t silver. A 3.54-meter section of this longer interval averaged 35.36 percent zinc, 14.01 percent lead, 3.07 percent manganese and 277.8 g/t silver.

• YKDD18-013 cut 7.1 meters averaging 23.12 percent zinc, 6.04 percent lead, 1.58 percent manganese and 158 g/t silver. A 3.24-meter section of this interval averaged 40.24 percent zinc, 7.43 percent lead, 1.76 percent manganese and 207.5 g/t silver.

• YKDD18-014 cut 9.3 meters averaging 10.97 percent zinc, 7.33 percent lead, 4.7 percent manganese and 122.6 g/t silver.

• YKDD18-015 cut 5.21 meters averaging 10.48 percent zinc, 5.48 percent lead, 4.17 percent manganese and 67.2 g/t silver.

In order to determine the exact location of the massive sulfide mineralization, Cantex plans to complete ground-based geophysics – gravity, electromagnetic, resistivity and magnetic – over the 2,300-meter Massive Sulphide zone.

These surveys will be focused on determining the exact location of the massive sulphide mineralization beneath a region covered in glacial till between the Discovery and Extension zones. The results will be used to fine tune the proposed drill program, especially in the glacial till covered area between Discovery and Extension, as well as test areas at the extremities of the mineralized zone.

With three drills turning, Cantex Mine Development plans to test Massive Sulphide with roughly 17,000 meters of drilling in around 75 holes. The company plans to complete another 1,000 meters in three holes at the Northern gold area.

Prospecting, rock sampling and trenching of the mineralization, which outcrops over a 120- by 150-meter area at Northern, have returned results as high as 15.75 g/t gold, 377 g/t silver, 32.5 percent zinc and 11 percent lead.

Drilling will commence once field conditions allow, which is anticipated to be in late May.

The North Rackla property is located about 20 kilometers (12.5 miles) north of ATAC Resources Ltd.'s Rackla Gold property in the Yukon.
