Evrim Resources Corp. Sept. 5 said its 2019 drilling and sampling continues to affirm the gold potential along a 10-kilometer (six miles) structural corridor at its Astro project in the Northwest Territories.

Astro is the results of an alliance between Evrim and Newmont Goldcorp to explore for world-class carbonate-style gold deposits across a 23,250-square-kilometer (8,975 square miles) prospective land package that parallels the NWT-Yukon border.

This reconnaissance level exploration culminated in the acquisition of the 250-square-kilometer (96.5-square miles) Astro property, which is accessible from the seasonal Canol Road in the Yukon.

The 2019 program at Astro, which got underway in June, included a magnetic VTEM (electromagnetic) geophysical survey; detailed mapping; chip-channel and talus fine sampling; and an eleven-hole reverse circulation (RC) reconnaissance drilling program.

"Evrim completed a substantial amount of work at Astro this season, and results continue to highlight a structural corridor of gold prospects extending for at least ten kilometers," said Evrim Resources Vice President of Exploration Dave Groves.

The helicopter-borne geophysical survey outlined a series of structurally controlled magnetic anomalies underpinning previously identified surface showings and gold-in-soil anomalies across the structural corridor at Astro.

Two of these prospective areas, Radio and Microwave, were targets of follow-up exploration this year.

Vertical chip-channel sampling carried out this year at Radio cut across 26 meters of magnetite-pyrite skarn that averaged 3.3 grams per metric ton gold, including six meters of 12.5 g/t gold.

The first Radio hole, RAD19-01, cut 10.7 meters of 1.36 g/t gold, including 3.05 meters of 3.13 g/t gold.

Chip-channel sampling at the Microwave prospect, which is a little more than five kilometers (3.1 miles) southeast of Radio, encountered 18 meters averaging 3.6 g/t, including six meters of 7.2 g/t gold; and eight meters averaging 3.1 g/t gold.

Ultraviolet, a new discovery about 1,000 meters southeast of the Radio prospect, was also tested this year.

Rock chip channels at Ultraviolet cut four meters averaging 6.1 g/t gold.

Gamma, another prospect area about 2,500 meters southeast of Ultraviolet, was also drilled this year.

Testing the north end of a 1,200-meter soil anomaly at Gamma, GAM19-01 cut 6.1 meters averaging 1.04 g/t gold.

"The RC scout drilling program focused primarily on testing stratigraphy in proximity to prospects and identified several new gold-bearing zones, including an interval of mineralized granodiorite east of Radio and silicified siltstone in a range-bounding fault at Gamma," said Groves. "These results, together with the mapping and sampling program that identified the UV prospect and gold-bearing quartz veining above Radio, are beginning to outline an extensive gold system along the eastern margin of the Border pluton."

Evrim and Newmont Goldcorp said they are committed to developing a positive and mutually beneficial relationship with local First Nations based on respect and transparency. Astro is located within the traditional territory of the Sahtu Dene and Metis Comprehensive Land Claim, a 1993 agreement that covers 41,437 km² of land in the Mackenzie River Valley area of Northwest Territories.
