Triumph explores gold-silver corridor
Historic veins may extend further than previously envisioned

Triumph Gold Corp. March 2 reported impressive gold and silver grades from sampling along the 3,700-meter-long Irene-Goldstar corridor on its road accessible Freegold Mountain project in the Yukon.
Situated about 4,500 meters southeast of the Revenue porphyry deposit, the Irene-Goldstar epithermal gold-silver corridor extends from the historical Goldstar vein and skarn system near the summit of Mount Freegold and continues through the Vindicator zone to the Irene zone at the bottom of the mountain.
The Gold Star and Vindicator veins were identified more than 50 years ago and based on the information available in 1989 it was estimated that Gold Star hosted 123,000 metric tons of historical resource averaging 4.21 grams per metric ton gold and 47.2 g/t silver contained within a shallow pit measuring roughly 250 meters long and 60 meters deep.
The Vindicator zone, which lies along strike to the northwest of Gold Star, has seen sporadic exploration since the 1960s.
Between 2005 and 2007, 16 grab samples collected from subcrop at Vindicator Zone returned gold assays as high as 425 g/t gold and 321 g/t silver. This exploration, however, was poorly documented and locations of the samples have not been verified by Triumph.
Triumph Gold geologists believe the mineralization at Goldstar and Vindicator are parts of a much larger mineralized system that extends through Irene zone about 2,000 meters further northwest.
Triumph said this corridor is associated with a major splay of the regionally important Big Creek fault. In 2018, 11 shallow drill holes were drilled at the Irene zone, resulting in numerous intercepts of quartz veins with precious and base metals with grades as high as 20.7 g/t gold over 0.70 meters.
The 2018 drill program at Irene defined a mineralized strike length of 450 meters that is open to the northwest and to the southeast.
Last year Triumph geologists collected 15 grab samples from outcrop or subcrop in or near eleven new trenches dug along in the Goldstar-Vindicator area of corridor. Highlights from the grab samples include:
• 93.8 g/t gold, 1,108 g/t silver, 0.28% copper, 1.51% lead and 0.41% zinc in sample C00048158.
• 8.92 g/t gold, 542 g/t silver and 1.28% lead in sample C00048156.
• 5.85 g/t gold, 129 g/t silver and 0.32% lead in sample C00048153.
Highlights from chip sampling of the bedrock in the trenches include:
• four meters averaging 2.08 g/t gold and 33.5 g/t silver in trench 19RFV-A.
• two meters averaging 3.85 g/t gold and 103 g/t silver in trench 19RFV-D.
• four meters averaging 1.49 g/t gold, 216 g/t Ag and 0.12% copper in trench 19RFV-K.
Anomalous lead and zinc were also encountered in the trenches.
"The 2019 trenching program along a 600 meter portion of the Irene-Goldstar Epithermal Gold-Silver Corridor has revealed impressive grades and widths of precious metal mineralization, and suggests that substantial mineralization is present along the Irene-Goldstar trend," said Triumph Gold Vice President of Exploration Jesse Halle. "Significant opportunities for discovery of new mineralized zones exist along the untested portion of the corridor. A new access road constructed in 2019 will enable additional trenching and drill testing of this mineralized corridor during the 2020 exploration season."
Triumph Gold is planning a trenching and diamond drilling program for the Vindicator Zone in 2020, as well as a diamond drilling program designed to close the 2,000-meter gap between the Vindicator and Irene zones along the Irene-Goldstar gold-silver corridor.
