More metal-rich zones at Johnson Tract

HighGold geologists made several discoveries during the 2020 exploration across a 7.5-mile-long mineralized trend that spans the Johnson Tract project in Southcentral Alaska.

HighGold Mining Inc. March 22 reported that results from its 2020 regional exploration program at Johnson Tract in Southcentral Alaska continue to identify zones of high-grade gold and silver beyond the JT deposit area.

"We are extremely pleased with the regional picture emerging at Johnson Tract with recent surface exploration results now defining widespread, robust and diverse styles of mineralization over an area several square kilometers in size," said HighGold Mining President and CEO Darwin Green.

Based on historical drilling and nine holes completed by HighGold in 2019, the JT deposit hosts 2.14 million metric tons of indicated resource averaging 6.07 grams per metric ton (417,000 ounces) gold, 5.8 g/t (397,000 oz) silver, 5.85% (275.3 million pounds) zinc, 0.57% (26.8 million lb) copper, and 0.71% (37.6 million lb) lead.

While drills targeted resource expansion targets at and immediately surrounding JT, HighGold geologists explored a series of regional prospects that span a 7.5-mile- (12 kilometers) long mineralized trend that runs across the 21,036-acre (8,513 hectares) Johnson Tract property.

The latest batch of results are from rock and soil samples collected in the 2020 field season from the Milkbone and Easy Creek prospects, which are associated with a 3.7-mile- (six kilometers) -long regional structure known as the Milkbone fault.

HighGold says a line of reconnaissance soil samples collected across the trace of the north-south trending Milkbone fault identified a strong gold-in-soil anomaly with supporting high-grade rock sample results from near-source boulders and subcrop.

Soil samples collected along a 150-meter-long line crossing a large alteration zone at Milkbone ranged from 70 parts per billion up to 4,390 ppb (4.39 g/t) gold.

One high-grade rock sample collected from this Milkbone prospect area contained 184 g/t gold, 46 g/t silver, 20% lead, 2.1% zinc and 0.1% copper. Another rock sample contained 5.2% zinc and 0.4 g/t gold.

These samples at Milkbone were collected about 400 meters west of a high-grade gold-silver vein discovery at DC (Dry Creek) prospect reported by the company in February.

Highlights from the previously reported rock samples at DC include 1,800 g/t silver, 0.4 g/t gold, and 0.5% zinc; 1,280 g/t silver, 1.9 g/t gold, and 0.9% zinc; and 517 g/t silver, 1.1 g/t gold, and 2.8% zinc.

HighGold's latest batch of assay results included additional high-grade gold and silver assays from DC, expanding this prospect to more than 1,000 meters in length. Highlights from these new DC assays include 1,500 g/t silver and 4.1 g/t gold from a rock sample picked up at the prospect; and 7.9 g/t gold and 94 g/t silver over 1.4 meters in a rock chip channel sample.

In addition to the sampling in the Milkbone-DC area, HighGold geologists also identified intriguing gold and copper mineralization at Easy Creek, a 1,500- by 1,000-meter gold-in-soil anomaly about 4,000 meters to the north and at the north end of the Milkbone fault.

Soil samples collected from a 350-meter diameter area at Easy Creek returned gold grades ranging from 70 to 100 ppb gold, and 272 to 1,805 parts per million copper.

One rock sample collected from Easy Creek contained 1.3 g/t gold and another returned 0.9 g/t gold and 0.92% copper.

HighGold says the soil anomalies at the Milkbone and Easy Creek prospects are open to expansion and will be a focus of additional follow-up during the upcoming 2021 field season. Along with the recently defined gold-silver vein field at DC, the company says multiple promising new targets have been identified for future discovery focused drilling.

"We are looking forward to drill testing several of these new prospects for the first time in our upcoming 2021 field season while also methodically expanding our high-grade JT deposit cornerstone resource," said Green.
