Workers enter the 440 Portal from Barrick's 1990s mining at Skeena's high-grade Snip gold mine in BC's Golden Triangle.

Skeena Resources Ltd. July 7 reported that as much as 110.22 grams per metric ton gold over 4.41 meters was encountered in new veins during the phase-3 drilling at Snip, home to a historic high-grade underground mine in British Columbia's Golden Triangle.

According to a 2020 calculation, Snip hosts 539,000 metric tons of indicated resource averaging 14 g/t (244,000 ounces) gold; and 942,000 metric tons of inferred resources averaging 13.3 g/t (402,000 oz) gold.

The phase-3 infill drill program is primarily focused on upgrading areas of inferred resource to the higher confidence measured and indicated categories.

Toward this goal, Skeena drilled a fan of 21 holes from a single underground drill station to upgrade inferred resources contained in the deeper footwall mineralization at Twin, the most prolific of the high-grade zones mined by Barrick Gold Corp. in the 1990s. Roughly 709,600 oz of gold was recovered from Twin Zone ore averaging 28.95 g/t gold.

The fan of holes drilled by Skeena discovered a new cluster of previously unidentified, high-grade intersections just a few meters from the underground working in the underexplored Footwall Zone.

Highlights from this fan of hole include:

Four meters averaging 33.63 g/t gold in hole UG21-169.

Four meters averaging 25.64 g/t gold in UG21-172.

3.81 meters averaging 58.47 g/t gold in UG21-175.

4.75 meters averaging 46.94 g/t gold in UG21-176.

4.41 meters averaging 110.22 g/t gold in UG21-177.

Skeena says this newly drilled mineralization is open for expansion 25 meters up-dip, greater than 100 meters down-dip, and 40 meters to the west.

Other highlights from the latest batch of assay results from the Footwall Zone infill drilling include 3.82 meters averaging 30.72 g/t gold in hole S21-099; and cut 4.5 meters averaging 58.44 g/t gold in hole UG21-126.

Skeena is also completing geotechnical drilling as part of its phase-3 program at Snip.
