Fireweed Zinc Ltd. Mar. 10 announced the results from the last two holes at the Boundary West target – a recent discovery at the company's MacMillan Pass zinc-lead-silver project in Canada's Yukon.

"The 2021 work was highlighted by new discoveries and excellent results especially at Boundary West," said Fireweed Zinc CEO Brandon Macdonald. "The 2021 drill program continued to grow Boundary and Boundary West. We continued to intersect wide high-grade zones over a large area and in multiple rock formations with a variety of mineralization types – massive sulphides, veins, stockworks, and another new zone of laminated, stratiform mineralization similar in style to our large Tom and Jason deposits."

Comprised of a road-accessible project along the Northwest Territories border, the 544-square-kilometer (210 square miles) Macmillan Pass project blankets a roughly 55-kilometer (34 mile) trend of zinc, lead, and silver mineralization.

Two of its more advanced deposits – Tom and Jason – host 11.2 million metric tons of indicated resource averaging 6.59% (1.63 billion pounds) zinc, 2.48% (620 million lb) lead, and 21.33 grams per metric ton (7.7 million ounces) silver; plus 39.5 million metric tons of inferred resource averaging 5.84% (5.08 billion lb) zinc, 3.14% (2.73 billion lb) lead, and 38.15 g/t (48.4 million oz) silver.

"All zones remain open for extension building on what is already one of the largest undeveloped zinc resources in the world at just Tom and Jason," said Macdonald.

Boundary, a zone about 15 road-kilometers (nine miles) west of Jason has shown the potential to expand its current resource and was the primary focus of Fireweed's 2020 drilling.

At the beginning of 2021, the company reported a long intercept of strong zinc and silver mineralization in the discovery hole at Boundary West, which immediately became the focus of last year's drill program.

Highlights from the final results at Boundary West include:

• 3.05 meters averaging 14% zinc, 0.2% lead, and 57 g/t silver in step-out hole NB21-009.

• Several narrow intervals of high-grade vein mineralization were intersected in a broader interval of vein mineralization averaging 3.5% zinc over 28.3 meters in hole NB21-009.

• Hole NB21-010 extended mineralization to a strike length of over 400 meters at Boundary West.

These last two holes from the 2021 drill program extended Boundary West stratiform and vein mineralization eastward. While NB21-009 returned promising results, NB21-010 extended the footprint of Boundary West, expressing the potential stratigraphic and structural link between zinc mineralization at Boundary West and Boundary Zone. However, this remains untested, the company states, but is still a geologically plausible target.

Beyond the final results Fireweed Zinc reported a 2021 exploration review, highlighting the activities and successes of the year.
