Banyan kicked off its 2022 exploration program at AurMac during the wintery cold weather of January in the Yukon.

Banyan Gold Corp. May 10 reported strong near-surface gold mineralization from the first nine holes drilled during the 2022 exploration program at the Powerline deposit on the company's AurMac property in the Yukon.

According to a resource calculated in 2020, AurMac hosts 52.58 million metric tons in the inferred resource category averaging 0.54 grams per metric ton (903,945 oz) gold in two deposits – Powerline and Airstrip.

Powerline hosts 6.58 million metric tons of this inferred resource category averaging 0.61 g/t (129,019 oz) gold, while Airstrip hosts the bulk of the project's resource at 46 million metric tons of inferred resource averaging 0.52 g/t (774,926 oz) gold.

Considering the success of the 2021 drilling and the strong start to the 2022 program, the Powerline deposit will be substantially larger when a new resource is calculated.

"These initial results from 2022 diamond drilling on the AurMac property have continued where 2021 drilling left off, definition of higher-grade zones within the expanding mineralization footprint of on/near surface gold mineralization at the Powerline," said Banyan Gold President and CEO Tara Christie. "To date, over 17,000 meters of drilling has been completed and Banyan looks forward to steady results through 2022."

Highlights from the first nine holes include:

32.1 meters averaging 0.78 g/t gold from surface in hole DDH AX-22-205.

34.8 meters averaging 1.07 g/t gold from surface in DDH AX-22-206.

33.9 meters averaging 0.74 g/t gold from a depth of 54.2 meters in DDH AX-22-207.

22.5 meters averaging 1.07 g/t gold from 22.5 meters in DDH AX-22-208.

These results continue to be consistent with previous exploration drill results at Powerline, and the areal extent of interpreted gold mineralization from near- and on-surface continues to expand with each batch of assay results received.

Additionally, these results come from the company's ongoing 2022 program, which Banyan began in January, with three drills operating.

According to Banyan, at least 80% of the 2022 drilling will focus on expanding the mineralization at Powerline and the connecting Aurex Hill deposit, with the remaining 20% testing high priority regional targets on the AurMac and adjacent Nitra property.
