Resolution Minerals Ltd. Dec. 12 reported encouraging gold mineralization was encountered during its first pass of drilling at the Tourmaline Ridge target on the West Pogo block of the 64North gold project in Alaska.

Tourmaline Ridge, which lies about 5,000 meters southwest of the main orebody at Northern Star Resources Ltd.'s Pogo gold mine, was identified as a high-priority drill target after a thorough re-interpretation of the geological and structural models for the area.

Prospecting and sampling, including surface rock chip sampling that returned grades as high as 118 grams per metric ton gold, have outlined an 1,800- by 750-meter geochemical anomaly at Tourmaline Ridge.

During 2022, Resolution completed 2,324 meters of drilling in five widely-spaced holes that tested a 1,200-meter stretch of the Tourmaline Ridge gold geochemical anomaly.

The company reported elevated gold in four of these holes; highlights include:

Seven meters averaging 1.1 g/t gold from a depth of 169 meters in hole 22TR002.

0.9 meters averaging 2.5 g/t gold from a depth of 413 meters in hole 22TR003.

1.1 meters averaging 0.8 g/t gold from a depth of 184 meters in hole 22TR004.

One meter averaging 6.7 g/t gold from a depth of 93 meters in hole 22TR005.

"We are highly encouraged to see gold mineralisation up to 6.7 g/t Au, with additional intersections exceeding one g/t Au for widths of up to seven meters, associated with flat lying (shear hosted) and high angled (antithetic) quartz veins, supporting our geological model for Tourmaline Ridge," said Resolution Minerals Exploration Manager Christine Lawley. "The presence of significant gold mineralisation across 4 of 5 drill holes indicates that a gold-bearing hydrothermal event has occurred across a wide area at Tourmaline Ridge."

Earlier this year, Resolution announced plans to have a comprehensive independent geological review completed for its 64North project, which is slated for completion early next. The company says this review, in conjunction with the better understanding of controls on gold mineralization gained during the 2022 drill program, will drive future drill targeting and the strategy for advancement of 64North.

"We know from our neighbour's results, Northern Star, the first holes at the Goodpaster Deposit had similar grades and thickness to ours, followed up by the discovery hole only 140 metres away, running 4.7 meters at 67.5 g/t," said Lawley. "Potential still exists for even higher grades to occur within the Tourmaline Ridge Prospect and given the wide >300 meter spacing of drill holes, the exploration space remains for significant mineralisation."
