Cassiar Gold Corp. March 3 reported significant gold intercepts from its 2022 drilling at Taurus East and Wings Canyon, potential Taurus deposit resource expansion areas on the company's Cassiar project in Northern British Columbia.

Lying about 55 miles (90 kilometers) southwest of Watson Lake, Yukon, the 145,800-acre (59,000 hectares) Cassiar gold property is divided into two areas – Cassiar North, which hosts the bulk tonnage Taurus gold deposit, and Cassiar South, which hosts multiple high-grade gold targets.

Going into the 2022 summer drill season, the Taurus deposit hosted 37.9 million metric tons of inferred resource averaging 1.14 grams per metric ton (1.39 million oz) gold.

This bulk tonnage deposit lies about 600 meters west of the historical Taurus Mine, which produced 35,000 oz of gold from ore averaging 3.5 g/t gold during operation in the 1980s.

The 23,000 meters of drilling completed by Cassiar last year included holes testing the Taurus East area, which encompasses the historically mined area.

Highlights from the 2022 Taurus East drilling reported by the company in September include:

6.75 meters averaging 3.14 g/t gold from a depth of 111.7 meters in hole 22TA-141.

22.2 meters averaging 1.5 g/t gold from a depth of 129.8 meters in hole 22TA-142.

7.45 meters averaging 2.58 g/t gold from a depth of 38 meters and 6.95 meters averaging 1.74 g/t gold from a depth of 85 meters in hole 22TA-143.

10.5 meters averaging 4.47 g/t gold from a depth of 12.9 meters in hole 22TA-146.

The latest batch of results includes:

2.8 meters averaging 11.54 g/t gold from a depth of 175.6 meters and 13.7 meters averaging 2.24 g/t gold from a depth of 226 meters in hole 22TA-167.

6.6 meters averaging 22.44 g/t gold from surface in hole 22TA-169.

Cassiar says hole 22TA-167 extends the gold mineralization 40 meters below the previously reported mineralization, and hole 22TA-169 extends gold mineralization east of the Taurus Mine.

In addition to Taurus East, the company reported results from five holes drilled in the Wings Canyon target about 1,000 meters south of the Taurus Mine.

Highlights from 2022 Wings Canyon drilling include:

23.1 meters averaging 0.92 g/t gold from a depth of 70 meters in hole 22WC-200.

41.2 meters averaging 0.61 g/t gold from a depth of 18 meters in hole 22WC-202.

"The latest assay results from Taurus East and Wings Canyon demonstrate the potential to extend mineralization along established trends into target areas well beyond the footprint of the Taurus resource," said Cassiar Gold CEO Marco Roque. "As we move forward, we remain committed to building on these positive results with our 2023 work program, which will advance our understanding of the property's potential as we identify areas for expansion and exploration."
