Cassiar Gold Corp. April 20 reported assay results from 13 holes drilled at Cassiar South, a historically mined high-grade gold area on the company's namesake project in British Columbia.

Situated about 55 miles (90 kilometers) southwest of Watson Lake, Yukon, the 145,800-acre (59,000 hectares) Cassiar gold property is divided into two areas – Cassiar North, which hosts the bulk tonnage Taurus gold deposit, and Cassiar South, which hosts multiple high-grade gold targets.

While the bulk of the 23,000 meters of drilling completed by Cassiar last year targeted areas around the 1.4-million-ounce Taurus gold deposit, nearby Taurus deposit, and nearby past-producing Taurus Mine, the company also completed more than 7,600 meters of drilling around historical underground mines at Cassiar South.

This area in the southern half of the district-scale Cassiar property hosts numerous gold-bearing shear veins and several past-producing underground mines – including Bain, Cusac, Vollaug, and Main – that have historically produced over 315,000 oz of gold from ore with grades between 10 and 20 grams per metric ton gold.

Highlights from the 2022 drilling at Cassiar South include:

15.9 meters averaging 0.89 g/t gold in hole 22MM-001, which was drilled about 260 meters northwest of Main.

15.5 meters averaging 1.22 g/t gold in hole 22MM-003, which was drilled about 50 meters west of in 22MM-001.

Two meters averaging 4.8 g/t gold in hole 22VOL-701, which was drilled south of the Main Mine and at the west end of the Vollaug target.

1.2 meters averaging 5.77 g/t gold in hole 22VOL-701A, which was drilled at the Vollaug target area.

0.8 meters averaging 7.2 g/t gold in hole 22CU-407, drilled in the Cusac area about 2,500 meters southwest of the Main Mine area.

14.6 meters averaging 2.21 g/t gold from a depth of 159.5 meters in hole 22EBX-103, which was drilled in the Bain area immediately south of Cusac.

22EBX-103 also cut 2.16 meters averaging 32.95 g/t gold from a depth of 36.9 meters, potentially representing a new vein at Bain.

"Our drill program at Cassiar South encountered gold mineralization in all drill holes, achieving our program objectives and supporting our exploration model," said Cassiar Gold CEO Marco Roque. "We are eager to build upon the successes of our exploration efforts to-date during the 2023 exploration campaign, which is anticipated to start in early June."
