Fireweed Zinc Ltd. Oct. 10 reported high-grade zinc results from the first four holes drilled at Jason, one of two deposits the company is testing with confirmation drilling during its 2017 program at the Macmillan Pass project in eastern Yukon.

JS17-01, the first hole drilled at Jason this year, cut 7 meters of 12.16 percent zinc and 3.13 percent lead from a depth of 172.3 meters.

Other highlighted intercepts include 10.5 meters of 7.82 percent copper and 1.39 percent lead from a depth of 155.2 meters in hole JS17-02; and 11.2 meters of 9.07 percent zinc and 1.6 percent lead from a depth of 154.2 meters in hole JS17-04.

These first holes at the Jason Main zone were infill holes and verified results of nearby historic drill holes which will allow them to be used in the modelling of an updated mineral resource.

Similar confirmation drilling at the nearby Tom West zone returned high-grade zinc-lead-silver intersections, including 24.4 meters of 10.2 percent zinc, 6.28 percent lead and 87.7 g/t silver over 24.4 meters.

Results are pending for additional verification, step-out and metallurgical holes have been completed in the Tom and Jason areas.

Fireweed also completed roughly 1,000 line-kilometers over the Macmillan Pass project claims, as well as LiDAR surveys over the Jason deposit area.

Exploration field work was carried out including surface geological mapping and geochemical sampling in the search for new discoveries in the Tom and Jason deposit areas, assays are pending.

The updated mineral resource for the Tom and Jason deposits is expected by the end of 2017.
