TerraX Minerals Inc. Feb. 7 announced the start of a 6,000-meter winter drill program at its Yellowknife City Gold project adjacent to the capital of Northwest Territories.
This initial program will test extensions of the Sam Otto and Crestaurum deposits on Northbelt, one of three large land packages that make up the Yellowknife City Gold project
"Our 2018 winter drill programs will focus on expansion of two of our most advanced high priority gold targets with a goal of significantly expanding the size of these zones of gold mineralization," said TerraX CEO Joe Campbell.
Sam Otto is a disseminated wide zone of gold mineralization with the potential to yield both a large bulk tonnage deposit at the main Sam Otto target and a high-grade deposit at Sam Otto West, formerly known as Dave's Pond.
Sam Otto is currently outlined over approximately 750 meters of strike and 250 meters of depth by 56 drill holes. Last year's field work identified the Sam Otto zone over 3,500 meters of strike length, indicating potential for a large deposit. The 11 holes planned for this winter will test the strike and dip of Sam Otto Main and Sam Otto West.
Crestaurum is a high-grade deposit currently outlined with 253 drill holes over 1,400 meters of strike and 150 meters of dip. The last drilling campaign by TerraX took place in the fall of 2015.
TerraX said recent biogeochemical field work, induced polarization geophysical surveying, and structural studies have helped define deeper targets at Crestaurum. These extension targets will be tested with five holes during the 2018 winter drilling.
