Experienced Alaskan drill crew to carry out 2020 program North of 60 Mining News – May 8, 2020

Grande Portage Resources Ltd. May 7 said it plans to move ahead with 2020 exploration at its Herbert gold project near Juneau, Alaska and is taking the necessary steps to organize for a drill program slated to get underway in July.

"We're looking forward to proceeding on schedule with 2020 drill program and further demonstrating the potential at the Herbert gold project," said Grande Portage Resources President and CEO Ian Klassen.

The company has already received its drill permit and all other regulatory approvals to proceed this season and has been monitoring the COVID-19 situation to determine the public health impact of coronavirus and the best course for advancing exploration this year.

The company has also been working closely with Timberline Drilling Inc., which is carrying out the planned 3,650 to 4,500-meter drill program slated for this year at Herbert.

Already in Alaska, Timberline's crew will not be subject to quarantine restrictions.

"We've got a first-class experienced drill partner in Timberline and are fortunate to be operating in a supportive jurisdiction which has done an excellent job of controlling the spread of COVID-19," said Klassen.

Grande Portage says its team has been working closely to ensure all the correct COVID-19 protocols and safety precautions are in place and have kept in regular contact with stakeholders and investors.

According to an early 2019 calculation, Herbert Gold hosts 1.88 million metric tons of indicated resource averaging 10.03 grams per metric ton (605,000 ounces) of gold; plus 553,429 metric tons of inferred resource averaging 14.15 g/t (251,700 oz) gold.

This resource is contained within three primary structures at Herbert Gold – Goat, Main and Deep Trench.

To grow this resource, the upcoming core drill program will primarily focus on extending these targets to depth and to the east.

Grande Portage says it continues to carefully monitor the public health impact of the coronavirus situation and will act proactively to protect the health of its workforce.
