The Q1-4 kimberlite at the Naujaat project in Nunavut hosts a distinct population of high-value, yellow diamonds.

EHR Resources Ltd. Sept. 22 announced that former De Beers Canada CEO Kim Truter has joined its board of directors.

"I am delighted to welcome Kim to the EHR board," said EHR Resources Chairman Stephen Dennis. "His wealth of skills and experience in all facets of the diamond industry will be of enormous value as we advance our growth-focused diamond strategy, particularly as we continue to examine international M&A (mergers and acquisitions) opportunities on operating mines and near-term development projects."

Earlier this year, Australia-based EHR entered into an agreement to earn up to a 60% interest in North Arrow Minerals Inc.'s Naujaat diamond project in Nunavut.

Currently wholly owned by North Arrow, Naujaat hosts at least eight kimberlite pipes. Q1-4 kimberlite is the largest and richest of the kimberlites discovered so far and has been the focus of North Arrow's work.

According to a calculation completed in 2013, the top 205 meters of the Q1-4 kimberlite hosts 48.8 million metric tons of inferred resource averaging 53.6 carats per hundred metric ton, or 26.1 million carats of diamonds.

Amongst the diamonds in Q1-4 is a distinct population of high-value, fancy, yellow to orangey-yellow stones.

EHR can earn a 40% interest in the Naujaat project by investing C$5.6 million to collect a 1,500- to 2,000-metric ton preliminary bulk sample during the 2021 summer field season. EHR is also working with North Arrow on a second proposal to earn an additional 20% in the Q1-4 diamond deposit by funding collection of a 10,000-metric-ton bulk sample.

EHR also owns the Nanuk Diamonds project in northern Quebec and has an alliance agreement for diamond exploration in Botswana.

Now, the emerging diamond exploration company has attracted a former De Beers executive to its board.

Truter served as De Beers Canada's CEO from 2015 to 2019. During this tenure, he led the successful completion and ramp-up to full production of the $1 billion Gahcho Kué diamond project in Northwest Territories, as well as the acquisition of the former Peregrine Diamonds assets in Canada. He was also a member of the De Beers Group executive team, driving global business performance across operations, sales, and marketing.

Truter previously served as Rio Tinto Diamonds CEO, managing their global portfolio in Australia, Canada and Zimbabwe. He also served as managing director of Australia-based Argyle Diamond Mines Pty Limited and as president and CEO of Diavik Diamond Mines Inc in Canada.

"EHR has been carefully building its diamond portfolio, has secured funding, and now has a significantly strengthened board and management team," said Dennis. "This positions us ideally to pursue our strategy of acquiring and developing the world's best diamond projects."
