Cantoo is part of five claim groups on an underexplored extension of the famed Golden Triangle located on the Alaskan side of the border. Limited exploration within the past 25 years, despite numerous known high-grade precious and base metal historic prospects and mines, has led Blackwolf to begin exploring this relatively untouched region.

Blackwolf Copper and Gold Ltd. Sept. 5 announced the completion of the maiden drilling at its Southeast Alaskan Cantoo property. Although only three holes totaling 1,356 meters were drilled, the company is excited to report a first look at core suggests significant alteration and mineralization indicative of a porphyry system.

Situated east of the Premier gold-silver mining project currently in development by Ascot Resources Ltd., the Cantoo property is located roughly 16 kilometers (10 miles) from the border towns of Hyder, Alaska, and Stewart, British Columbia, and is part of several properties that now comprise Blackwolf's Hyder properties.

Kicking off its maiden drill program at the end of July, while short, the company was pleased to find indications of a porphyry system at Cantoo.

"We are pleasantly surprised encountering indications of a porphyry system at Cantoo, although it was not unexpected given the history of the area and proximity to the Premier mine," said Blackwolf CEO Morgan Lekstrom. "Cantoo may represent a telescoping porphyry feeder complex to the high-grade Premier-Big Missouri epigenetic gold-silver veins, similar to the KSM-Snowfield system that underlies the Brucejack Mine to the north."

Underexplored and undrilled, aside from some historic mining and exploration performed 100 years ago, surface work during 2023 targeted multiple stacked shallow-dipping vein structures and breccias, including a 30-meter-wide structure.

Initial surface sampling results included high-grade mineralization that averaged up to 30.4 grams per metric ton gold, 2,860 g/t silver, and 5.8% copper.

"In summary, there are strong indications that we are in the right rocks and location as we've hit zones at depth that are encountered at surface," said Lekstrom. "Assay results are pending for these initial drill holes as well as the summer surface sampling program and will be released when available. In order to make good use of the summer exploration window, the drill has been moved to the Harry property while we await these results."
