The historical Taurus Mine, which lies about 600 meters east of the currently outlined Taurus deposit, produced 35,000 oz of gold from ore averaging 3.5 g/t gold during the 1980s.

Cassiar Gold Corp. Oct. 24 reported encouraging results from its 2023 drilling at Taurus East and Wings Canyon, resource expansion targets east and southeast, respectively, of the Taurus gold deposit on the company's Cassiar project in Northern British Columbia.

The 145,800-acre (59,000 hectares) Cassiar gold property is divided into two areas – Cassiar North, which hosts the bulk tonnage Taurus gold deposit, and Cassiar South, which hosts multiple high-grade gold targets.

According to a 2022 calculation, the Taurus deposit hosts 37.9 million metric tons of inferred resource averaging 1.14 grams per metric ton (1.39 million oz) gold.

This bulk tonnage deposit lies about 600 meters west of the historical Taurus Mine, which produced 35,000 oz of gold from ore averaging 3.5 g/t gold during operation in the 1980s.

This year, Cassiar completed more than 16,000 meters of drilling that included 9,200 meters of infill and expansion drilling at the Taurus deposit, 3,738 meters at outlying targets such as Wings Canyon, and 3,200 meters testing extension of high-grade gold mineralization at Cassiar South targets.

In September, the company reported initial results from drilling at the Taurus deposit. Highlights from this initial round of Cassiar assay results include:

6.8 meters averaging 4.5 g/t gold from a depth of 71.1 meters and 4.9 meters averaging 8.1 g/t gold from 106.6 meters in hole 23TA-184.

23.6 meters averaging 23.6 g/t gold from a depth of 311.1 meters in hole 22TA-187.

22 meters averaging 0.5 g/t gold from a depth of 106.8 meters in hole 22TA-188.

The latest batch of results are from drilling along a roughly 1,500-meter trend that extends south from the historical underground mine at Taurus East to Wings Canyon.

Highlights from this batch of results include:

0.7 meters averaging 89.6 g/t gold from a depth of 45 meters and 6.3 meters averaging 1.73 g/t gold from 118.5 meters in hole 23TA-192 (Taurus East).

27.7 meters averaging 1.18 g/t gold from a depth of 152.1 meters in hole 23TA-195, including a 5.8-meter subsection averaging 2.61 g/t gold (Taurus East).

22.3 meters averaging 0.92 g/t gold from a depth of 5.2 meters in hole 23WC-205 (Wings Canyon).

Cassiar says the 2023 drilling at Taurus East and Wings Canyon encountered geology with similar styles of veining, alteration, and sulfide mineralization as is found in the Taurus deposit, reinforcing the potential for a larger mineralizing system at Cassiar North.

"We are pleased to report continued success as we work to further demonstrate the persistence of mineralization along established trends at outlying target areas, well beyond the footprint of the Taurus resource," said Cassiar Gold CEO Marco Roque.

Assays are pending from 10,788 meters of drilling in 29 holes completed at Cassiar this year.

"Our 2023 drill program at our flagship project is now complete and the company is well-positioned to provide project updates as new results are returned," Roque added.
